HISTORIC TOURS 

The behind-the-scenes tour of the historic Music Hall, designated an American Treasure by the U.S. Senate, will run on the first Wednesday of each month. The historic tour includes visits to the backstage area, the antique front of the house dating back to 1878, and the enchanting lobby renovated in 2008. (Details below)

In Closer, Patrick Marber has written a brutal anatomy of modern romance, where a quartet of strangers meet, fall in love, and are caught up in a web of desire and betrayal. Closer was hailed as one of the best new plays of the 1990s. A silent auction at this year's Lighting Up Ball  in South Berwick, Maine will offer participants the chance to bid on a wide array of items and services donated by supporters. Summer is over but farmers’ market season is not! Weekly outdoor markets are still going strong. The Exeter Farmers’ Market will continue at Swasey Parkway on Thursdays from 2:15 to 6:00 p.m. through October 28. The Portsmouth Farmers’ Market lasts even later, on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the City Hall parking lot on Junkins Avenue. The final outdoor market of the season will be November 6. Writers on a New England Stage, the celebrated author series, welcomes to the stage the renowned journalist and author Simon Winchester. The bestselling author of The Professor and the Madman, Krakatoa, and The Map that Changed the World, Winchester will take the stage to discuss his latest work of nonfiction, ATLANTIC on Monday, November 8, at 7:30pm.
