Jacques Brel Still Alive and Well

Brel_vertical2New Hampshire Theatre Project will open their 2010-11 Season with Jacques Brel is Alive & Well & Living in Paris. NHTP offers Brel as you've never seen it before --  a potent blend of music, visual art and theatre - artists working together to interpret the acclaimed songs of Jacques Brel and creating art live onstage November 12-28.  (See details below)

With direction by Blair Hundertmark and musical direction by Gail Adams, actors Genevieve Aichele, Meghann Beauchamp, Tobin Moss and Peter Motson will present this timeless musical performance, an audience favorite since its debut in 1968.

Brel_vertical1Hundertmark, always intrigued by the notion of creating the set, or scenic artwork, live alongside an onstage performance, has sought out a collaboration with local Seacoast visual artists Roger Goldenberg, Dustan Knight and Carl Aichele who will create a new work of art at every show.

“The artwork will be inspired in the moment by the words and feelings of Brel as performed by the singers and musicians,”  says Hundertmark, “giving the audience another dimension to access the organic artistic interpretation of Brel's emotional and thought-provoking work.” With costumes designed by Michele Macadaeg, lighting designed by Quentin Stockwell, and musicians Gail Adams, Lance Gunderson, Dick Ray and TJ Boynton, audiences are in for a full night of laughter, love, and life.

“Jacques Brel's lyrical poetry and achingly beautiful music dance together like lovers,” says Cherylanne Williams, who is underwriting the production. “The production makes me think and feel much more deeply. Such a rich, emotional experience... it's a must see!” Production sponsors also include Seatrade International, Pat Spalding and The Woodland Group.
