December 17-19 Poolyle Productions presents the “funniest holiday show in Maine. Heck, in New England!” Humorist Susan Poulin, creator of “Ida: Woman Who Runs With the Moose!,” “Ida’s Havin’ a Yard Sale!” and writer of the popular Maine humor blog and podcast, “Just Ask Ida” at DownEast.com, spreads Ida’s good cheer as she celebrates Christmas in Mahoosuc Mills, Maine.

This Gallery 100 show features more than a dozen by Erin Murray, one of the region’s up and coming painters. Her large canvases demonstrate the reason this gallery was established over a decade ago, according to Michael Simchik, building owner and gallery sponsor. (Continued below)  

In October 1947 a weeklong series of forest fires swept across Maine, burning over 200,000 acres.  Among the hardest hit areas was northern York County. Brad Fletcher will discuss the events of the historic fire that left 16 dead, nine communities decimated, 2,500 people homeless, and caused $30 million in property damage. This lecture will be held Thursday evening, November 18, starting at 7:30 pm.

EXHIBIT DATES

The new “Flights of Imagination” exhibit at the Children’s Museum of NH showcases the fanciful work of three NH artists who share their otherworldly visions in this intergalactic artistic treat. This exhibit will be on display in Gallery 6 at the Children’s Museum of NH from December 3, 2010 – March 6, 2011. (Continued below) 

Writers on a New England Stage, the celebrated author series presented at The Music Hall welcomes the renowned historian Joseph J. Ellis on Tuesday, November 30, at 7:30pm.  The Pulitzer Prize- and National Book Award-winning author will take the stage to discuss his latest work of nonfiction, FIRST FAMILY: Abigail and John Adams. Tickets to the evening event are currently on sale as are vouchers for books signed by the author. (Continued below)

Pontine Theatre will bring the history of the Isles of Shoals to life at Seacoast Science Center on Tuesday, November 9, at 7:00 pm. Scenes from Pontine’s popular original production, “The Isles of Shoals: Eternal Sound of the Sea,” will be presented as part of the regular meeting of the Isles of Shoals Historical and Research Association.
