Classic Horror Exhibit in Kittery

Classic_Monsters by Arthur K. MillerMonsters! Vampires! Werewolves!  Come witness, if you dare, spirited living-color portraits of classic horror movie icons from an earlier black & white cinematic world! See melodramatic paintings rendered in stark painterly realism, richly executed in acrylics! Frightful images so life-like you’ll need to keep telling yourself, “It’s only a painting, it’s only a painting…” Through Nov 30, 2010. (Continued below)

The exhibition, “Classic Horror: Movie Monsters From the Golden Era” by internationally renowned artist and York Beach resident, Arthur K. Miller, ran this past January and February at OK Harris Works of Art in New York City.

Now just in time for Halloween, a condensed version of this acclaimed show will be on display from October 15 through November 30 in the new Chart Room at D. Pratt Framer in Kittery. Opening reception with the artist will take place on Friday, October 15 from 5-8 p.m.

Originally from New Jersey, Miller has lived in the seacoast since the mid-1980s.  He is best known for his portraits of baseball players whose career happened before the advent and modern development of color photography.

D. Pratt Framer is located at 15 Wallingford Square, downtown Kittery, Maine, and offers fine custom picture framing, art and frame restoration, ready-made frames along with antique maps and prints, and nautical charts in the new Chart Room.

Shop hours are Wed thru Fri 10-6, Sat 10-4 or by appointment. For more information, contact David Pratt at (207) 439-1192.
