FALL 2011 EXHIBIT

Celebrating children’s literature, Gallery 6 at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire is presenting an exhibit featuring the whimsical work of New Hampshire author and illustrator David McPhail. This new show, David McPhail: Looking Back … and Beyond, opens September 17 and will be on exhibit until the end of the year. (Continued below)

The “Running Nuns” of St. Charles Children’s Home in Rochester, New Hampshire are pleased to announce the 15^th year anniversary of their Annual Labor Day 5k Road Race. The road race fundraiser has helped the sisters provide hundreds of children with the guidance, therapy and love they need to prepare them for life with new families. All proceeds of the road race go to benefit the children at the St. Charles Children’s Home. (Continued below)

Molly Colman loves light. The South Berwick artist is even more enamored with the idea of people strolling peacefully along a path lighting the summer night with their hand-made lanterns. So it is literally a dream come true that so many of her neighbors have been busy making lanterns in preparation for SoBo’s first annual LanternFest, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 25 on the shores of Knights Pond and at the Spring Hill Restaurant. Forty seven men and women are set to compete for the first time at the Raitt Homestead Farm Museum on Sunday August 14 from 11am to 4pm during the Woodsman Competition.  Held in conjunction with the Sam's Club Mainely Grillin' & Chillin' BBQ Festival the woodsmen competition will add another element for attendees to enjoy.  (Continued below)

Sheila Charles, along with Tara Vose will present a talk called “Cutting to the Chase: Results of Historic and Archaeological Investigation of the 1762 Chase House Site.” The Piscataqua Decorative Arts Society will sponsor the talk on Tuesday, September 20^th at Strawbery Banke Museum’s Tyco Center in Portsmouth, NH. The lecture starts at 5:30 p.m. preceded by refreshments at 5. Members are free and the general public is $10.00. (Continued below)
