USS Albacore Museum Marks 25 Years with Free Admission |

The Officers and Directors of Albacore Park want to announce a special celebration at the Park on Saturday, August 20th. The event will last from 9:30 am until 5:00 pm and will have Free Admission. The special event celebrates the 25th anniversary of the opening of Albacore Park. (Continued below)
Former USS Albacore crew members will be present to answer questions about their service on the Ship as well as several crews from the nuclear subs currently at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard.There will be a ceremony at 11 am to highlight the event and pieces of our “Submarine cakes” will be available for all of our visitors.
Children will have the opportunity to go on a submarine trivia hunt and the USS Albacore will be decorated with silver balloons.
The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard will demonstrate remote control submarines with the SEA Perch Program and the Navy Yard will be selling souvenir items. A toy submarine “test tank” will be available for children and a free submarine coloring book.
The afternoon will feature three authors signing 1-3 pm.

- Mary Lee Coe Fowler will be signing: Full Fathom Five
An amateur radio station will broadcast on site with the opportunity to learn some Morse code.Self guided audio tours of the submarine will continue until 5 pm
The USS Albacore (AGSS 569) was opened to the public on August 30, 1986. For twenty-five years our mission has been to promote an interpretation of Albacore’s historic Contributions to the evolution and development of the United States Navy’s modern day submarine fleet.
On permanent display, ALBACORE stands as a tribute to the Engineers and Scientists who designed her And the Officers and Sailors who operated her in proof of her motto: Praenuntius Futuri (Forerunner of the Future).
