Prescott Park Arts Festival will present the Blues legend Taj Mahal and his trio on Wednesday, July 27, at 7pm. Two-time Grammy winner Taj Mahal will join longtime collaborators Bill Rich on bass and Kester Smith on drums for this special edition of The River House Wednesday Night Concert Series. For a suggested donation of $8-$10, audiences will enjoy a rich blend of jazz, blues, Caribbean, African, and South Pacific tunes on the banks of the Piscataqua River. (Continued below)

The Portsmouth Historical Society is located at 43 Middle Street at the 1758 Purcell House, now home to the city museum. On 1920 both the Portsmouth Herald and the Portsmouth Times announced the public opening of the John Paul Jones House as a museum belonging to the Portsmouth Historical Society. The Heralds’s headline for the day— “For all the people—an institution of learning.”  On July 2 1 you can tour the house for the 1920 fee of just two bits – that’s 25 cents. (Continued below)
