French Chateau Vacation in Auction to Benefit Counting House Museum Print Email

A museum in France is assisting the Counting House Museum’s fundraiser by providing a six-day stay for two on the grounds of its 900-year-old chateau, located four miles from Cannes.  The accommodations will be auctioned at the upcoming Counting House benefit and dance on November 3. “We are so fortunate to be able to offer this fabulous vacation stay to benefit a local history museum,” said organizer Vicky Whitney of the Old Berwick Historical Society based in South Berwick ME. (Continued below)

 
Molly Bolster and Gundalow Company Receive NH Proclamation Print Email

The Gundalow Company received a proclamation from Governor John Lynch in October 2012 in recognition of the new programs on the sailing classroom Piscataqua, and for being a nonprofit with a diversified program and business model.  He also recognized the Gundalow Company’s success in fulfilling its mission to protect the region’s maritime heritage and environment. Balcony Seating Restored in Historic Rochester Theater Print Email

Rochester Opera House patrons will be greeted by 465 balcony seats, dressed in their finest for the opening of the 2012/2013 season. The 104 year old seats, patched with duct tape and splintered with age, took a trip to Michigan during the week of June 11, 2012.  They were bound for Encore Seating Restorations to be restored under the supervision of owner Ed Dombrowski. Over 6,000 people flocked to the hsitoric waterfront of New Hampshire’s only seaport to see the President recently. Too crowded for me. I watched the Barack Obama visit to StrawberyBankeMuseum in Portsmouth, NH (my home town) from the comfort of my den. As the President launched into the adoring crowd I almost dropped my daiquiri when I saw Mr. Smith from the film MATRIX shadowing POTUS. Well it sure looked like the same guy, so I grabbed my trusty digital camera and shot photos of the TV screen. Check it out. (Continued below)

On Friday, September 14, US Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) toured toured Star Island with Star Island Corporation CEO Vicky Hardy and Facilities Superintendent Jack Farrell.
