NH Maps Printed on NH Paper Once Again Print Email

NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH - The second run of the annual White Mountains Map and Guide is being printed on paper made in the northern end of the region, at Gorham Paper and Tissue. "It's pure New Hampshire," said Jayne O'Connor, president of White Mountains Attractions in North Woodstock, which markets 16 member tourism venues. "The geography is made in New Hampshire and it is being printed on paper that is made not just in New Hampshire, but in the heart of the White Mountains." (Continued below)

 
Folsom Tavern Dollhouse Raffle Benefits Museum Print Email

Replica created by 90-year old Exeter resident. Folsom Tavern has been moved several times since it was built by Colonel Samuel Folsom in 1775, but it will be lot easier to relocate the new dollhouse version, created by David Warner, a 90-year old resident of RiverWoods in Exeter. Warner, a skilled woodworker, learned of the AmericanIndependence Museum’s desire to have a dollhouse of Folsom Tavern, one of the buildings on the campus of the revolutionary-era focused site.  (Continued below)

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine – It was small and thin.  Caked with dirt and found a few feet deep, it looked like a stone and could easily have been discarded.

But, out on her first day digging at the possible site of a seventeenth century tavern, Whitney Parrish wiped off the dirt and saw a silver gleam and intricate markings.  She had found a Spanish coin, often called a “piece of eight.” (Continued below)

 
American Independence Museum Opens 2012 Season Print Email

The American Independence Museum, located at One Governors Lane in Exeter, opens Wednesday, May 16th for the 2012 season. Museum hours are 10 am to 4 pm, Wednesdays through Saturdays until October 27.  Guided tours will be offered at 10 am, 12 pm and 2 pm. The admission fee is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for students; children under 6 and members of the museum pay no admission fee.   Visitors may also take a self-guided tour, following a specially designed booklet.  This option will allow visitors to proceed at their own rate and focus on items of particular personal interest.  Admission rates remain the same, and the times are flexible; the last tour tickets will be sold at 3 pm.(Continued below)

 
Beer Returns to Historic Folsom Tavern in Exeter Print Email

In the days preceding the American Revolution, colonists were fed up with over-taxed ale imported from England and started to brew their own beer at home.  To honor these “beer revolutionaries,” Redhook Brewery and the American Independence Museum are introducing introduce a special limited-release brew called “American Independence Ale.” Redhook Brewery’s team of craft brewers have created a medium-bodied pale ale with locally grown and malted barley and hops as part of their Brewery Backyard Series.  (Continued below)
