The Wentworth Lear Historic Houses announces the opening of "The Many Faces of George Washington." The national traveling panel examines the multidimensional, real-life man behind the myth. The Wentworth Lear Historic Houses is pleased to be the only northern New England organization to host this special exhibition in 2013.

The fourth annual Gosport Regatta sets sail on Saturday, June 8. Organized by Star Island and the Piscataqua Sailing Association, this premier seacoast event allows spectators to experience the excitement of open ocean racing with a fleet of 40 sailboats in the racing, cruising and J-24 classes. A horseback journey to Boston in January 1791 may have taken days and been hazardous for a 55-year-old rider. But John Tompson of  South Berwick prevailed, returning home with a charter passed by the Massachusetts legislature and signed by Governor John Hancock. Tompson promptly started a school that and today Berwick Academy is Maine’s oldest educational institution. (Continued below) 

APRIL 30 LECTURE 

A chance meeting in 1937 through the federal Works Progress Administration led Mary Goldsmith and Edwin Scheier to begin a seven-decade long partnership that would place them in the forefront of the American Studio Pottery Movement. Married within the year, the couple began studying Southern pottery tradition, opening their own studio in Glade Spring, Virginia. Almost immediately their pottery won acclaim. (Continued below)
