Kittery House Sale to Benefit Gundalow Print Email

JULY 2010 -- Sherry Walworth reminisces: "Our twelve years in the Kittery house was a windfall for us, living on waterfront with a deep water dock – having bridge-free access to the open sea, taking what was an unkempt lot full of bramble and turning it into what we came to say is a ‘Maine-scaped’ acre with stately ledge and sloping lawn. We think it’s a good turn around that we can take whatever windfall that comes from our house sale now and share it with the Gundalow Company." (Continued below)

 
Master Sand Sculptors 2010 Announced Print Email

JUNE 2010 -- The 10th Annual Master Sand Sculpting Competition in Hampton Beach, NH concluded its competition on Saturday. The first place winner was Justin Gordon from Groveland, MA with a sculpture titled "It's No Yolk," an egg-shaped sculpture which was meant to depict the world as it is today. Gordon wins a cash prize of $3,000 and a trip to the World Championships in Federal Way, Washington. (See photo below)

 
Old Salisbury Bridge Needs Home Print Email

JUNE 2010 -- The historic Pingree Bridge in West Salisbury, New Hampshire, will be removed and replaced this summer. This bridge is one of only three pin-connected low ("pony") Pratt truss metal bridges remaining in New Hampshire. It was built by the Groton Bridge Company in 1893, and is 77 feet long. Grant Supports History Explorers Print Email

JUNE 2010 -- How do you teach elementary school children about what life was really long ago? At Strawbery Banke Museum, first through third grade students experience history first hand in the NH History Explorers program. This school year, 1100 children participated in the program, many from underserved schools in NH. Thanks to a $7,000 grant from the Lincoln Financial Foundation, Strawbery Banke educators will be able to offer the program to elementary schools in the greater Concord area in 2011-schools that would otherwise not be able to afford the cost of transportation and tuition. What is Seacoast Day at the Shoals? Print Email

JUNE 2010 -- On Saturday, June 5, 150 invited representatives from Seacoast business, arts and education organizations, and state and local government agencies will spend the afternoon on Star Island. The event marks the return of the Isles of Shoals Steamship Company (ISSCO) as the main ferry service for Star Island’s conference guests.
