Jesse James 1939 Print Email

Tyrone POwer and Henry Fonda in 1939 as the James Brothers on SeacoastNH.comTHE DINGUS PROJECT
Jesse James in Film #05

Stars Henry Fonda and Tyrone Power make great outlaws in this key film in the Jesse James canon. It is the imaginary story of two real brothers who, according to southern legend, were driven to bad things by bad times. Actor Power is much older than a 16-year old Jesse, but with facts thrown to wind, all things are possible in this American myth.

THE DINGUS P{ROEJCT
Jesse James in Film #04

This 1950s western represents Jesse James films at their very worst. The outlaw is merely an excuse to crank out a plodding and uninspired melodrama. Only the Hollywood scandals of its stars Barbara Payton and Tom Neal make this dud interesting.

The Outlaws Is Coming Print Email

The Outlaws is Comcing drive-in movie spoof with the Three StoogesTHE DINGUS PROJECT
Jesse James in Film #03

Far from the worst movie including Jesse James, this Three Stooges film turns was created for drive-in theatres in the mid-1960s. It co-stars Batman's Adam West who is editor of an environemtnal newspaper in the late 1800s. The film has funny ideas and, unlike many, recognizes that the legendary Wild West is a focition, not a fact.

Jesse James
THE DINGUS PROJECT
Jesse James in Film #2

Short and sweet, this documentary gets the Jesse James story accross, and sticks pretty close to the facts. Features an interview with the outlaws frandson and tells the story without glorifying the outlaw too much.

Jesse James at Bay Print Email

Jesse James at Bay on SeacoastNH.comTHE DINGUS PROJECT
Jesse James in Film #1

In this 1941 feature length film, Roy Rogers takes on Roy Rogers in a dual role.  Roy plays both Jesse James and the bad guy. But whait a minute -- isn't Jesse James the bad guy? Not in this World War II melodrama that includes Gabby Hayes and not a whisker of historic fact.
