Strawbery Banke Presents
HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #41
Paul Revere' sent a mob here to New Castle in 1774, but things were sleepy in 1902. The gated entrance to Fort Constitution was built in 1808 to ward off a second war with Britain. Here members of the US Coast Artillery Company 124 appear less than battle-ready. One man carries a lunch tray and others hold baseball gloves. (click for more pix)
