Meet Mary Mullins Rider

Mary RIder / Strawbery Banke MuseumStrawbery Banke Presents
HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #45

You know her house. The Rider-Wood House stands in Strawbery Banke. Mary Mullins Rider came from Devonshire in 1794. Her husband John was a successful trader. The childless couple brought nine nieces and nephews from England and helped set them up. Mary lived to age 94 and her nephew James Wood, who got the house, lived to 104.
