Universalist ChurchStrawbery Banke Presents
HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #14

This Universalist Society church once stood at the top of Pleasant Street, then a key thoroughfare in the city. Constructed for $10,500, some considered it the largest and finest in the state. The 70 independent builders were repaid from the sale of the church pews to parishioners. Across from the Gov. John Langdon House, the 1807 church burned in 1896.
