Sparhawk Mansion on Death Row

This snapshot shows Sparhawk Mansion at Kittery Point prior to its demolition in 1967. A wedding gift from Sir William Pepperrell to his daughter in 1750, the 19-room colonial was too costly for its final owners to maintain. The door and some carved wooden panels were salvaged was burned "like an old worn flag" according to a witness.
