YoYo Show at Pontine March 3

yoyos_at_pontineTOP EVENT

Pontine Theatre presents John & Rebecca Higby in The YoYo Show.  Seen on David Letterman, they have performed in over 20 countries.  In October 2011, John set a new Guinness World Record in Beijing, China.  Over 20 million viewers on Chinese television watched as he lit 14 matches with a yoyo in 60 seconds.  The 45-minute show will be followed by a workshop for all ages.  (Continued below)

Tickets are $8 for the performance and $12 for the workshop (which includes the price of a special YoYo Show yoyo).  Purchase tickets online: www.pontine.org.  Tickets may also be purchased at the door (cash & checks only) based on availability.  For information contact Pontine at 603-436-6660.

Who would have thought you could make an entire show out of yo-yos? This husband and wife duo bring back that nostalgic toy, reminding you of old favorite tricks such as Walk the Dog and Rock the Baby, then amazing you with new and bizarre tricks, such as Boingy-Boingy and Iron Whip.

Yo-yos attached to bouncy balls, yo-yos with 10-foot strings, and multiple yo-yos looping while hula hooping and unicycling are just some of their finely tuned feats. High skill and deft timing to swingin' music coupled with high energy and sarcastic humor make the Yo-Yo People a favorite for every age

•The Basics. The tricks you remember, then some you've never seen, all with a sarcastic bite. Look for John's favorite trick, "Shoot For the Moon".

•The Fancy Stuff. This is where the skill and energy is kicked way up. Bizarre tricks and unusual yo-yos are handled to some upbeat tunes. "YO!"

•The Brave Volunteers. No show is complete without some eager kids in the show, set up to succeed at some tricks of their own.

•The Danger. John's yo-yo comes within a centimeter of a man's head again and again, all for $0.25.

•Two-Handed. Years of practice, no social life, for a killer dizzying peformance.

•Four-Handed. What's better than two hands? Four!

•Hula Hoop Solo. From one to twenty hoops, Rebecca wows the crowd with some seriously fun skill.

•The Grande Finale. Hula hoops, unicycle, and yo-yos all at the same time while the couple tries to hold everything together.

•The Petite Finale. Lots of shows have grande finales, but this is where the real action takes place.
