Generic Theater will be reading Laura Wade’s Breathing Corpses on May 15 as part of the free monthly play reading series at the Players’ Ring, 105 Marcy Street, Portsmouth, N.H. (Continued below)
Breathing Corpses is a thriller/drama in which the characters keep discovering dead bodies. Poor Amy, a chambermaid, has been dubbed the “angel of death” by her manager since she found a dead person in one of the hotel bedrooms. JIm, the manager of a self-storage unit, can no longer ignore the smell emanating from unit B16. Kate is just walking her boyfriend’s dog, when he leads her to a dead body. How are all these bodies and people connected? The play travels backwards and forwards in time to explore how each discovery changes the people involved.
Breathing Corpses premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2005 and had its U.S. premiere in 2007. Laura Wade is a British playwright and recipient of numerous theater awards.
This play reading will be directed by Helen Brock and will include actors Roland Goodbody, Susan Turner, Betsy Kimball, Brett Reis, and Molly Sullivan.
