The lectures are in coordination with the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War and the exhibit now running at Strawbery Banke. "Fitz John Porter, Hero or Coward? Discover the Truth" continues on display through the fall. The exhibit tells the story of Portsmouth-born Gen. Fitz John Porter, (whose statue stands in Haven Park in Portsmouth) and the controversial court-martial that marred his military career. Highlights of the exhibit are Porter's own sword, rediscovered by Museum curator Kimberly Alexander and purchased by the Museum for its permanent collection, and the General's field glasses, on loan from the Manassas Battlefield National Park. The exhibit is open 7 days a week, 10-4, through October 31, 2011
