Tan Vampires and Worried Well Tonight

3S Artspace and The Wire present the fourth concert in their Loading Dock Concert series, held outdoors at 319 Vaughan Street on Friday, August 3 from 6-8pm.  Tan Vampires (Seacoast, NH) and Worried Well (Portland, ME) will bring an evening of indie rock live to the loading dock stage. (Continued below)

The show is open to the public for a small donation ($5-$8), and all proceeds will go to supporting the participating musicians. Preceding the concert at 5pm will be a community open house during which the public is invited to explore the un-renovated building at 319 Vaughan Street and learn more about the organization’s future plans.

Tan Vampires are a six-piece band from the Seacoast of New Hampshire and they released their new record, “For Physical Fitness” in September of 2011.  In 2010, The Boston Phoenix chose them for their “Fifty Bands from Fifty States” and they kicked off 2012 by performing at Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Worried Well consists of two members, Daniel James and Cam Jones. James, of Portland, ME, played ska and radio-pop-punk for ten years before starting Worried Well, which is focused on the message and the tense feel of his poetic songwriting.

"Now halfway through our loading dock experiment it’s safe to say that the idea has been a great success. We’ve seen attendance grow with each show, not to mention the diversity of people that each concert has attracted. Oh, and we’ve heard lots of great music, too!” said Chris Greiner, cofounder of 3S. “Tan Vampires have become one of the Seacoast’s best-loved bands so we’re proud to be presenting them, and I’m looking forward to seeing their friends Worried Well for the first time.”

For most of 2012, Tan Vampires have been dedicated to recording a new EP and working diligently on writing, recording, and touring the USA. Originally started as a solo project by lead singer/songwriter Jake Mehrmann, it was not long before he acquired an all-star line-up of Seacoast New Hampshire musicians to establish their full-bodied sound. They have recently opened for Yo La Tengo and Okkervil River. Worried Well has been touring around the US, selling records out of the back of their van, playing shows in halls and basements as well as at theaters and civic centers. According to James, the most important aspect of his music is the true connection to the writing and playing; a faithful representation of the person he really is.

The remaining Loading Dock Concert lineup is as follows:

·       Friday, August 3 – Tan Vampires and Worried Well (Indie Rock)

·       Friday, August 17 – Spose, Cam Groves, and eyenine (Hip Hop)

·       Friday, August 31 – Say ZuZu and The Mallett Brothers Band (Americana)

Loading Dock Concerts would not be possible without the generous support of these outstanding local businesses: AJ’s Wood Grill Pizza, Summer Sessions Surf Shop, The Ale House Inn, Diversions Puzzles & Games, Olde Port Convenience/Middle Street Market, Gus & Ruby Letterpress, Ri Ra Portsmouth, Surf Restaurant, Best Buy, Haigh & Martino, and Speedpro Imaging.
