RIVER HOUSE RESTAURANT CONCERT SERIES

RED STICK RAMBLERS - July 14, 2010

Cajun music at its best! Hard driving, witty, eclectic, and honest - the music of the Red Stick Ramblers is inseparable from their way of life and the rich Louisiana culture that first inspired them. The Ramblers are a unique hybrid of Cajun, country, stringband, and swing influences that has them at the very forefront of a new generation of Louisiana roots musicians.

CROOKED STILL - July 21, 2010

Don't miss it. This hot, adventurous young group are the purveyors of the nu-folk, bluegrass movement. The unlikely combination of banjo, cello, and double-bass drives this low lonesome band, whose capitvating vocals and high-wire solos have enraptured audiences across the globe since 2001.

THE WAYBACKS - July 28, 2010

If you missed this band last summer, you've probably since heard the buzz. The Waybacks are possessed with dazzling instrumental chops and an absolute mastery of acoustic music styles. They've been erroneously pigeonholed as a bluegrass band and celebrated as purveyors of "acoustic mayhem". One thing is certain, The Waybacks music is wild, energetic and unpredictable. This multi-instrumental band, including the hot guitar of James Nash and the fiddle virtuosity of Warren Hood, will absolutely blow you away.

JUDY COLLINS - August 4, 2010

Yes. Judy Collins. We can't believe it either. What can we say about someone with an impressive career that has spanned more than 40 years and thrilled audiences worldwide with her unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes. Noted for her rendition of Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now (since entered into the Grammy's Hall of Fame) and Grammy Award Song of the Year for her version of Send in the Clowns. LIVINGSTON TAYLOR - August 11, 2010

He's back! There's still a giant buzz on the Seacoast from his last Prescott Park concert in 2008. When it comes to musicians, some are known as great singers, others are great players, Livingston Taylor is both, and considered with the unofficial title as "ultimate crowd pleaser". The kid-brother of pop-folk superstar James Taylor, Livingston offers our audience another do-not-miss concert experience.

THE WAILIN' JENNYS - August 18, 2010

Three extraordinary voices, two founding singer-songwriters, one singular vision. With a JUNO Award (Canada's Grammy), the Jennys have been captivating audiences with their intuitive harmonies, engaging stage presence and an uplifting repertoire. Catch this stellar Canadian band and you'll understand why the Wailin' Jennys are one of Garrison Keillor's favorite and most frequent musical guests on Prairie Home Companion..

DAVID FRANCEY - August 25, 2010

Francey is, without a doubt, Canada's top folk singer and songwriter. Winning three prestigious JUNO Awards (Canada's Grammy) for Album of the Year, Francey has the ability to connect with the audience like no other artist. He brings both intimacy and energy to his performances, mixing slow ballads of everyday life with rousing anthems. David's songs have been performed by artists worldwide. Since 2006, the Seacoasts' own Craig Werth has served as accompanist/co-arranger for Francey.

RICHARD THOMPSON - August 27, 2010

What a way to end the series. The one and only Richard Thompson! This iconic British folk rock legend is one of the world's most critically acclaimed and prolific songwriters. He was named one of Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 20 Guitarists of all-time and a recent recipient of the BBC Lifetime Achievement Award. His work is admired and recorded by such artists as Bonnie Raitt, David Byrne and Elvis Costello. Since his teenage years as founding member of the 1960's Fairport Convention, Thompson's astounding body of work includes over 40 albums. Definitely DO NOT miss this show.
