towncrierlogoHEAR YE!

APRIL 2010 -- When Bud Thompson came to Warner in 1990 to fulfill his lifelong dream of opening an "Indian Museum" the locals thought he was crazy. Twenty years later the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum is still thriving and growing. To celebrate its 20th Anniversary the Museum is hosting a gala reception Saturday May 1st from 5 pm – 7 pm.

Funding for Mt. Kearsage Indian Museum is provided in part by New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum is supported in part by a grant from the NH State Council on the Arts & the National Endowment for the Arts.

Executive Director, Shawn Olson, stated "This event is meant to not only celebrate twenty years of sharing Native American culture with the world but also to honor the vision and heart of founders Charles "Bud" and Nancy Thompson and the many people who have supported the Museum over the years."

Kent Nerburn, author of many books including Native American Wisdom and Neither Wolf Nor Dog, will speak to the guests and will be available throughout the evening to autograph his latest book, Wolf at Twilight. Other activities include a special performance of flute music by local musician Barry "Whitecrow" Higgins and the unveiling of the Museum’s newest exhibit, "The Art & Function of Crooked Knives", an exploration of the history, making and use of this unique tool used by the indigenous New England peoples. The evening will conclude with a champagne toast to founders Charles "Bud" and Nancy Thompson.

Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum 20th Anniversary Gala Admission is $30 per person/$50 per couple. Tickets will be available at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling 603-456-2600.
