My Blankie and Me owner/designer, Peter Reitzas is a third generation knitter that grew up in the family business, Fall River Knitting Mills. His earliest memories are of playing hide-and-seek at the mill on Saturday mornings and watching all the big machines at work. He was fascinated by the whole mechanical process. After college Peter went to Switzerland to study knitting, then returned to the family business. Three decades later he moved to Vermont and designed a line of whimsical baby and toddler blankets that are knit from the softest, pre-shrunk, 100% cotton available. Recently, he introduced a line of 100% organic cotton knit blankets and sweaters that are sold world-wide. When this President visited Portsmouth, NH, he was not very impressed by the architecture or the people or the accommodations. But he did like the ladies of Portsmouth. Attending a reception at the Assembly House downtown, this president noted about the women in his diary that there were "about 75 well dressed, and many of them very handsome."
