Magical Ministers at Greenland Church

magiic_showMARK YOUR CALENDAR

Two nationally known magicians (who are both ordained ministers) wil team up for two evenings of family entertainment just before Halloween. On Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29, Rev. David Reed-Brown and Rev. Bob Fellows will present "A Night of Magic and Illusion" at 7:30 pm at Community Congregational Church's Parish House in Greenland. (Continued below)

Both performances are fundraisers for the church, with a suggested donation of $7 per person or $20 for a family.

Rev. David Reed-Brown of Connecticut has been a pastor for more than 25 years, but also performs magic across the country. David Friedman of the Walt Disney Co. praised Reed-Brown, saying, "David is more than just a magician. Yes, his magic is expert and entertaining and awe-inspiring, but the real magic is the spiritual way in which he presents it. You leave his performances knowing that life itself is magical and filled with endless possibilities.”

Dr. Benjamin Griffin, president of Andover-Newton Theological School, added, "David Reed-Brown is an amazing magician who enthralls persons of all ages, from children to adults. Beyond his outstanding magic, David’'s presentations convey life-affirming signals. Church groups and other public service organizations widely welcome him.”

Performing alongside Rev. Reed-Brown will be Rev. Bob Fellows, pastor of Community Congregational Church. Prior to attending seminary and becoming ordained several years ago, Rev. Fellows was a professional entertainer who had his own magic show on WMUR-TV at age 12. During his career, he performed around the world and appeared on national television, including Late Night with David Letterman. Rev. Fellows moved back to New Hampshire two years ago and often uses illusions to make memorable points during worship services and children's messages. He looks forward to working with his friend David Reed-Brown in these special benefit performances for his church.

Rev. Reed-Brown will also present a program to church youth from around the Seacoast on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 11:00 a.m. The program is titled "Living a Magical Life: How to Realize Your Dreams." The suggested donation is $5 and lunch is included.

Community Congregational Church, a member of the United Church of Christ, was founded by Greenland town leaders in 1706. The church’s sanctuary at 2 Post Road was built 255 years ago and is a familiar landmark at the corner of Route 151 and Portsmouth Avenue. Sunday services are held at 10 am, led by Rev. Robert Fellows, with Sunday School and childcare available. The church is also a founding congregation of the Seacoast Family Promise, runs a weekly food pantry, and is involved in a number of local, national and international mission efforts.
