Sammie Haynes and Cormac McCarthy have been favorites of the seacoast music scene for many years. Although they enjoy performing together, their music has taken them down different paths.

Music for whole family from the Seacoast

Sammie has been writing and performing children's music for the past 12 years with two CD's to her credit. The first, "Many Hands" was recorded locally by Jim Tierney and featured the seacoast's finest musicians and talented children. Her most recent children's CD, "Nature's ABC's" was released in November 2004 on A Gentle Wind, a nationally-known children's recording label. To date it has received four awards: A Parent's Choice Award, a NAPPA (National Parenting Publications Award), Children's Music Web Award for Best Song, "Daddy's Car", and the Film Advisory Board's Award of Excellence.

Her music has gotten great reviews locally as well. The Boston Globe, the School Library Journal and the ALA's Booklist all offered praise. This summer brings Sammie to many venues around the seacoast, including Prescott Park with The Tall Tree Boys (her children's band) at 4 PM on July 15th.

When not performing children's music or directing The Treetops Chorus, a chorus for youngsters 4.5-7 years old who love to sing, she may be heard singing with her Texas-swing band, MAINESQUEEZE. Recently celebrating 20 years together and a new CD, "Long Way Home", MAINESQUEEZE consists of area celebrities: Doug Bennett, Bruce Derr, Jonathan Booth, Jamie Decato and often, Kent Allyn. Cormac McCarthy (married to Sammie) is a nationally known singer-songwriter who has just released his long-awaited 4th album, "Curious Thing".
