Award-winning author and illustrator Tracy Kane will appear at the Lilac Festival at the Wentworth Coolidge Mansion in Portsmouth, NH on May 25, 2013. The author of the popular Fairy Houses Series of photographic and illustrated books will read from her books and share fun ideas for building fairy houses at 11:00 am. (Continued below) 

All ages are welcome. The Lilac Festival is from 10:00 am-3:00 pm and admission is free. Following Tracy’s program, visitors of all ages are invited to help build an enchanted “Fairy Houses Village” on the grounds of the historic site.

Fairy houses are small structures made from natural materials to attract fairies and woodland creatures. Inspired by Tracy Kane’s award-winning Fairy Houses Series® of books, fairy dwellings are popping up in backyards, parks, school playgrounds, nature centers and woodlands around the world.

In each illustrated story book, Tracy combines her love of nature with a touch of magic.  Her stories emphasize a respect for nature and provide a way for children to learn about and become part of the natural world around them. Children love to wonder if they build a fairy house, will the fairies come to visit?

The Fairy House Series of books foster creative thinking and problem-solving skills through a fun, hands-on activity. Parents, educators and nature lovers are amazed at children’s imaginations and concentration when constructing their fairy habitats.
