The Head and the Heart will be traveling all the way from Seattle, WA to make their debut in Prescott Park as part of the River House Restaurant Concert Series on Wednesday, July 31. The sextet’s Americana roots and strong vocal harmonies blend effortlessly to create the groups impeccable folk-pop sound which promise to light up the FairPoint Communications MainStage starting at 7 pm. (continued below)

The Head and the Heart stands out as stars among the increasingly crowded field of sweet-voiced neo-folk. With three singers out of the six group members capable of taking the lead at any moment, impeccably crafted lyrics, and distinct, lush vocals, the group has taken the music scene by storm. Their music pulses effervescently by being both explosively danceable and intuitively intelligent. After the band released its self-titled debut album in June of 2011, the emblematic Seattle label Sub Pop signed the group, and reissued the album in April of 2012. The The Head and The Heart is a bright, powerful debut full of classic harmonies, influenced by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and The Beatles, and is often compared to Fleet Foxes and the Avett Brothers. The group’s second album Let’s Be Still set to be released in October 2013 is one of the most widely anticipated albums on the folk-pop music scene.

“The Head and the Heart is such a fantastic, up and coming group,” says Executive Director Ben Anderson. “Their harmonies are flawless, their songs are universal, and their talent both as individual musicians and as a group is incredible. Their first album was so impressive – one of those albums you can let play on repeat and not get tired of. Naturally, we’re expecting big things from their second album and look forward to hearing a lot their new material on our stage.”

As with all Prescott Park Arts Festival events, events are free and open to the public, with a suggested $5-$10 donation. As a testament to the quality performance that the Head and the Heart promises to give, the Festival's limited blanket reservations and tables on the Federal Savings Bank VIP Seating Deck were sold out quickly. All are encouraged to come to Prescott Park enjoy this stellar concert with their own chairs and blankets.
