Steve Fowle, editor of the New Hampshire Gazette, insists has his "fortnightly" newspaper is the oldest contually operating paper in America. It was begun by his collateral ancestor Daniel Fowle in 1756 when Portsmouth, NH was still a colony under King Gerige. Today's version looks surprisingly similar.
Each issue of the old Gazette contains bits and pieces from earlier editions. With the permission of the editor, and with thanks to the Portsmouth Athenaeum, we offer those here.
