A Perfect August Weekend

Let's start with Gen. Porter. This is a sneak preview of a feature we're creating on local monuments, here off Pleasant Street near South Mill Pond. The guy on the horse was actually famed as a Civil War hot air balloonist. You'll find out more later.

No clue as to what these guys were doing to the historic Rockingham Hotel, but the editor just thought this was a cool artistic image. Note the sharp white angular line and the Cubist coloring, reminiscent of the Bauhaus at the dawn of modern Expressionism.

This one is less complex -- a kid with a bird. The rooster is always visible at the travelling Farmer's Market that visits Exeter, Portsmouth and Dover weekly. There used to be a guy who ran an old one cylinder engine using corn for fuel, but he hasn't been around this year.

Here we see a punk piper outside the Unitarian Church. The wedding party later showed up at Prescott Park where they jostled with tourists while having their pictures taken among the flowers. This year has been kind to the award winning gardens which are in full bloom right now.
