Yesterday and Today|

Portsmouth Brewing Co.
Yesterday, circa 1900, on Bow Street fronting on the Piscataqua River stood the brick buildings of the Portsmouth Brewing Company. It was the smallest of the major breweries in Portsmouth. Its advertisement read, "... The special products of the company are Portsmouth ale, porter and Portsburger lager, all widely known and largely consumed brands, sold throughout New England, and ales and beers of officially pronounced purity, freedom from adulterants and contaminating ingredients, and having a high percentage of nourishing properties."
Today, the brick warehouse of the old brewery has become the offices of the Delahaye Medialink. The people behind Delahaye Medialink have been "combining research technique, technology and insight to help companies understand and improve their reputations, plan and evaluate their communications programs and sharpen their competitive edge". Katherine Paine owns the building and was the founder (1988) and owner of The Delahaye Group. In March 1999, The Delahaye Group was acquired by Medialink.
Amazingly enough the brewery parts of the building still had their brewing equipment as late as the 1970s/ Then the building was renovated and recycled as the "Theatre-By-The-Sea." After numerous years of local theatre productions, it was sold and now houses The Seacoast Repertory Theatre
