The Second Universalist Church
Corner of Junkins Ave & Pleasant St

Yesterday, c. 1900, the second Universalist Church was built on the same grounds as the first Universalist Church (see 1877 map or previous Universalist Church photographs). When the first wooden church was destroyed by fire in 1896, the congregation built a new brick church in that same year. Unfortunately, the second church was also destroyed by fire in 1947. Following the second fire, the Universalist Church grounds were sold.

Today, when standing on the spot where the yesterday photograph was taken, there is a large tree blocking the view where the Universalist Churches had stood from 1808 to 1947. This picture was taken from the corner of Junkins Avenue and Pleasant Street. Behind the tree is a parking lot, and commercial buildings.
