Hale House Museum, Dover, NH
Samples of Cocheco Mill textiles. Dover was, at one time, one of the
dominant cotton manufacturing towns in the world. It was also the site
of the first (unsuccessful) strikes by women factory workers. The first
owner of the Hale House was responsible for building the early cotton
mills, many of which still remain and form the primary elements in
Dover's manufacturing personality.
