Martha Washington
America's first First Lady
From the familiar painting by Gilbert Stuart

Martha had been previously married and had two children. During Lear's tenure with the president, the Washington's were responsible for four grandchildren of Martha's deceased son Jack. Martha also became close to Tobias Lear's three wives (two of whom she was related to) and to his son Benjamin and especially to Tobias Lear's mother with whom she retainted a lifelong relationship.
