ThunderbirdsGet yourself and your kids some very heavy duty ear protection (we’re not kidding – the severe noise can cause permanent hearing loss). And bring plenty of water and food (the concession lines last year were horrendous). Lather on the suntan lotion and prepare to spend a lot of time in your car getting out after the show (we waited three hours to exit the parking lot). And wear a hat. Oh, and make sure you’ve paid up your insurance policy and filed your will, because -- oh boy -- the Thunderbirds are coming to down again. (Continued below)

Boston–Portsmouth Air Show producers are excited to announce that the United States Air Force Thunderbirds have selected the 2011 Boston–Portsmouth Air Show as one of only 39 venues the team will headline this year.  This year’s show will take place on August 13th and 14th at the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease.  It has been 25 years since the Thunderbirds performed their amazing precision aerial maneuvers in New Hampshire

Tickets for the show will go on sale starting February 25 ath the official WEB SITE. There are a limited number of corporate participation/sponsor programs still available.  Companies interested in sponsorships should contact Joe Wiltrout, Air Show Director, at (603) 801-2479.

The Boston–Portsmouth Air Show, which attracted a record crowd of 70,000 spectators in 2010, is once again being jointly produced by the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America and the Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire.  Show organizers are excited to work with the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease, the New Hampshire Air National Guard, and dozens of community partners to build on the success of last year’s show and make improvements so that the Boston–Portsmouth Air Show is once again the family destination event of the summer.  Plans are already underway to address the traffic and parking concerns brought on by last year’s show, as well as reducing long lines for water and concessions.

“We are excited to be able to bring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds to the people of New England,” said Steve Wade, CEO, of the Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire.  “We are pleased to be able to follow up on our successful 2010 show by putting together another top-tier civilian air show that our sponsors, spectators and the community can be proud of,” said Michael Kaufman, CEO of the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America.  “The Thunderbirds will headline what will again be a sensational lineup of the top air show acts on the circuit.”

Already confirmed for the 2011 show in addition to the Thunderbirds is New England’s own Michael Goulian, considered one of the top civilian aerobatic pilots in the world.  The U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights will also make a return appearance to the show, and Team MS760 will perform their two-ship jet routine.  Many additional civilian and military performers as well as a full slate of static displays will be announced soon.
