GOODEY COLE'S GHOST UNVEILED!
Ralph Morang needed a Pg. 1 photo for a Halloween issue of Hampton Union, so he recruited me to pose as Goodey Cole ghost! I had an old soft, cotton raincoat with a hood and a cane I'd used during a sprained ankle event. Several double exposures later...Voila! The next week RM and I had to go back to the park and explain to a class of children how it was done...they thought it was a real ghost. (Click here to see ghost!)

(Editor's Reply: As a former Hampton Union reporter, Ann Moore knows her way around Hampton. She also managed, during her tenure as Rockingham Gazette editor to survive about 300 articles written by this reporter. My continued gratitude. JDR)
LANGDON LOVERS LINK
We found a link to our ancestor from the Rev. War via YOUR great pages about John Langdon! Our ancestor was Wentworth Cheswell and he marched to Saratoga in 1777!! Thanks for the great history page!

LOONS NOT ONLY NH PROS
I have to correct the assertion that the Thunder Loons are the only professional team in NH. There are two more. The Phantoms of New Hampshire soccer team play in the USISL which is a step below the MSL (the league the NE Revolution is in). But they are pro-semi pro. Also the Granite State Warriors Football team is a semi-pro football team. Perhaps you could contact their people and give them some needed PR. Thanks

STARK? NAY, KID
Where was General John Stark's house located in Londonderry? Where is he buried? This is for a 4th grade school project. Thank you.
Whitney
(Editor's Reply: We knew we'd get in trouble when we included that upstart from Manchester in our Revolutionary site. We're fresh out of Stark data, but will look around. Meanwhile, we suggest the Manchester Historical Society and the NH Historical Society as starting points. READERS, can anyone help on this worthy school project? JDR)
LOCAL IN EXILE
Very much enjoyed your site. I was born and raised in Portsmouth and am now living in exile in Atlanta (Miss the ocean and the town, but NOT the weather). Will be checking back with your site when I get homesick.

WANTS TO CAMP IN HAMPTON
Hello!
I am trying to make reservations at the Hampton Beach State Park. I have tried calling their given number many times, but just get a recording. I have left messages, but have not received any replies. I have decided to mail them my request. Would you happen to have their address?
Kerry P
(Editor's Reply: We turned this one over to Glen French, director of the Hampton Hamber of Commerce, who reported the following.)
All calls go to 603-271-3628. Its a Central Reservation office at DRED in Concord staffed by State Park Employees. There are four operators on duty. or they can mail a request to NH Division of Parks

The main number for the NH Guidebook is 1-800 FUN IN NH. They send the guidebook and a New Hampshire Map which this year includes BIKE Trails.
BIG ISLES FAN
I am wondering about the Isle of Shoals. I understand that I may have ancestors who settled on the Isle of Shoals, at Gosport. Does Gosport still exist? Are there other settlements on the Isle of Shoals? What is it like today?
Frank, Carrolton, TX
(Editor's Reply: Check back in June. We are currently researching a new History Theme Site that will answer all your questions. We hope to have the site up to coincide with the Isles exhibit at the Portsmouth Athenaeum in June. Among the selections, we hope, are never before seen pix from the Isles in 1860. JDR)
BLACK JACKS LINK
I am in charge of the Harvard University Press web site and would like very much to create a link from our site to your interview with Jeff Bolster. Many thanks.

(Editor's Reply: Glad to add our scholarship to Harvard U. Readers note that UNH Prof. Jeff Bolster's book on black mariners in the Age of Sail is now available. His in-depth interview is in our Black History site. JDR)
SEEKS WINCHELL INFO
I am interested in the Winchell family of Portsmouth, NH. Do you have any information regarding this group of women? In particular, they are reputed to be exceptionally tall. Heights of almost 6' feet were rumored. Can you share any insights?
Thanks Karen R

MORE BLACK HISTORY
I loved your NH Black History site! I want to share a little known fact about NH black history during the Civil War. The 13th NH Regiment under Lt. Royal B. Prescott, were one of the first Union soldiers to enter the Confederate Capital of Richmond, VA. in April, 1865. Richard Gill Forrester, a free-born mulatto, greeted the NH men and was the first to raise the union flag at the state capital building. That flag was given to the 13th NH regiment and it is now on display at the NH State Capital in the "Hall of Flags."

How about providing links to the various newspapers that service the NH seacoast?
