Romeo meets Juliet in Prescott ParkPrescott Park Arts Festival’s Shakespeare in Prescott Park is back for its third season. In collaboration with Seven Stages Shakespeare Company, this third season of Shakespeare in Prescott Park will offer audiences six performances of ROMEO + JULIET: three afternoons and three evenings, with the first evening performance on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 7PM and ends August 31. (Continued below)

“ROMEO + JULIET is a play about paradox and juxtaposition,” says Seven Stages Co-Founder Christine Penney, “and when Ben Anderson and John Moynihan- PPAF’s Executive Director and General Manager respectively- presented the opportunity to split the run of the show in half with three afternoon and three evening performances, it really gave us an opportunity to highlight those themes.”  Penney says that audiences will see two very different shows in the day and evening performances.  “The play has innumerable references to day and night,” she explains, “and director (and Seven Stages Co-Founder) Dan Beaulieu’s vision for the show has truly allowed those elements to come to life in ways that are sure to surprise audiences depending on which show they see.”  Penney even offers a hint as to what one of those surprises might be, encouraging audiences that attend the evening shows to “…bring a flashlight.”

Shakespeare in Prescott Park’s ROMEO + JULIET plays on the Prescott Park Arts Festival stage on: Tues 7/30 at 7:00PM; Tues 8/6 at 7:00PM; Sun 8/11 at 2:00PM; Sun 8/18 at 2:00PM; and Sat 8/31 at 7:00PM.
