For twelve years, the exiled Duke of Milan has waited for his chance to wreak vengeance on the men who betrayed left him and his infant daughter for dead. In The Tempest fate finally puts his enemies within his grasp on his island. Prospero masterfully unravels the conclusion to his own story – a tale of betrayal, redemption, and an unexpected flowering of love. (Continued below)

The Players’ Ring presents a vivid interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic final play. The work is set in modern times and, breaking with tradition, features a Prospero who is not a grey-bearded wizard at the end of his life, but rather a charismatic and potent man in his prime. An innovative approach to Ariel combines Shakepeare’s “harmless fairy” with more unsettling influences, and a new edit of the script promises a lean, well-paced production.

Directed by Jacquelyn Benson (Crush Depth, Evening Broadcasts), The Tempest features Seacoast talents Christopher Savage, Chelsea Hermann, Chris Samperi, Matt Richards, Kevin Baringer, Matthew Schofield, Rich Harris, Arthur Barlas, Tobin Moss, Robin Fowler, Liz O’Connell, Danica Carlson, Sara Donlon, Stacy Horne, and Kathleen Ernsting.
