With the holiday season comes a treasured tradition at Harbor Light Stage. This delightful collection of humor, memories, and holiday cheer is an annual staple in the theatre company’s Bold Face Play Reading Series. The single performance this year is Monday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. (Continued below)

As with all Bold Face readings, it will be presented in the cozy upper gallery of the Kittery Art Association, 8 Coleman Ave., off Route 103 (Pepperrell Road), just south of Captain and Patty’s Restaurant in Kittery Point, Maine.

As the title suggests, THE RAGPICKER’S DREAM is a shimmering assortment of pieces about Wintertide and the holidays: traditional and contemporary stories, poetry and song, adapted for reader’s theatre by Harbor Light Stage founding artistic director Kent Stephens. The evening’s selections are read and performed by the Seacoast’s finest professional actors in a warm, intimate setting.

Programs in the past have included pieces by Robert Frost, David Sedaris, Kenneth Grahame, Anne Rivers Siddons, Susan Cooper, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Leon Garfield, Damon Runyon, Mike Reiss (of “The Simpsons”) and Susan Poulin, performing her immortal character Ida, the Woman Who Runs With the Moose. Harbor Light Stage again promises new delights and the return of some cherished favorites.

The 2009 RAGPICKER cast returns this year: Doria Bramante, Chris Curtis, Susan Poulin, James Sears, Kathy Somssich and Kent Stephens. As with all Bold Face readings, no props or staging are used. Just memorable writing and inspired acting take audiences from laughter to guffaws to tears and back again in this sparkling spoken word performance.

Reservations are strongly recommended and must be paid in advance. Walk-ins, however, are always welcome and will be accommodated as space allows. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the reading begins promptly at 7:30. Reservations not claimed by that time may be released to accommodate those on the waiting list. Tickets are still only $10. Payment can be made online; ticket sales are not refundable. To make reservations, call (207) 439-5769 ext. 4, or visit the official Web site.
