Rare beach scenes
Kittery to Old Orchard
This region may be small, but it's not photo shy. Literally hundreds of postcards of the South Coast Maine beaches are still in circulation - this time among Seacoast nostalgia collectors. The most southerly beaches of Maine each have their own personality and have attracted loyal tourists that return to their summer homes like migrating flocks, sometimes for generation after generation.
This gallery travels from Kittery, through York, Ogunquit and
Kennebunkport to Old Orchard. We've passed by the familiar Nubble Light and other popular images for some of the more unique scenes on this trip. We'll be adding more later, but this group is partial to the
boardwalk strip at Old Orchard. Why? Well because the cards were just
more interesting. See the planes, the ferris wheel, the old pier and the
peanut vendor on his trusty donkey. --- JDR
