About The Harbour Trail

craftsman The Portsmouth Harbour Trail celebrates the historical significance of Portsmouth New Hampshire. It embodies our commitment to preservation of our arts and culture. We invite you to explore our galleries and gift shops, our historic buildings and museums, our waterfront and a host of restaurants tucked into the many corners of our city.

The Harbour Trail covers the following three areas of the city:

  • Downtown And The Waterfront
    This first section explores the development of the commercial downtown and waterfront area. It should take about an hour on foot.

  • The South End
    This section of the trail explores the commercial development of Pleasant Street and State Street and the residential character of the South End. The walk will take about an hour.

  • State Street To Haymarket Square And Congress Street
    This section of the tour explores the commercial and residential areas of Portsmouth developed between 1800 and 1900. It will take about a half hour to walk.
