Prior to the movie, Brown will take the stage for a moderated Q&A session, followed by an exclusive, behind the scenes slideshow offering a rare glimpse of the film sets of two major motion pictures, The Da Vinci Code, and Angels & Demons with director Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks.

Dan Brown, who is local to New Hampshire, is the author of numerous #1 internationally bestselling novels, including Inferno, The Lost Symbol, Angels & Demons, and The Da Vinci Code.  Brown’s novels are published in 52 languages around the world with over 200 million copies in print. The Da Vinci Code has become one of the best-selling novels of all time as well as the subject of intellectual debate among readers and scholars. His literary success and academic influence led him to be named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2005.

Brown states, “Being on movie sets and seeing my novels adapted to the screen has been a fascinating and enjoyable experience. It will be a pleasure to join the audience for movie night in Portsmouth's beautiful Prescott Park, and I look forward to sharing some behind-the-scene stories and photos.”

Angels & Demons is based on Brown’s novel, and centers around Harvard symbologist, Robert Langdon, who works to solve a murder and prevent a terrorist act against the Vatican in Rome. Langdon and scientist, Vittoria Vetra, are taken on a thrilling adventure involving a secret brotherhood, the Illuminati. This undertaking leads the pair all around the Vatican, including the four altars of science: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. This film is rated PG-13.

“The effortless blend of accurate historical detail and Brown’s fictional plot is amazing. The film –which I might add, is a fantastic portrayal of the book- keeps you on your toes and enthralled the whole time,” says Executive Director Ben Anderson. “Having Brown here in the Park to answer many of our questions about his inspiration, background, and knowledge will be a great way to set the tone for this special outdoor film.”

The movie series is the result of a long-term goal and intensive fundraising. The festival organizers were able to purchase a high-definition projector and movie screen, specially designed for the projection of outdoor movies. Combined with the existing sound system for concerts, the result is a high quality, unique and affordable movie experience for the whole family to enjoy.

The Service Credit Union Movie Series in Prescott Park is offered free of charge with a suggested donation of $5-$8. General seating is first come, first pick, and audience members are welcome to bring a blanket or lawn chairs with them to the Park. VIP tables or blanket can be reserved through www.prescottpark.org, or by calling the Festival Office at 603-436-2848.

The Service Credit Union Movie Series includes a diverse line up of family-friendly films on deck including The Avengers (August 26), Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (Thursday, August 29), Anchorman (Friday, September 6), and The Shining (Saturday, September 7).
