The Provident Bank’s Lobby for the Arts in Portsmouth is pleased to present “Portsmouth Icons and Other Interesting People”, by Bill Truslow. The exhibit is on display to the public during regular bank hours through November at The Provident Bank’s Portsmouth branch located at 21 Daniel Street. (Continued below)

Originally trained as an architect, Bill Truslow later decided that he wanted to pursue a career in commercial photography. He attended The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and started shooting in the Los Angeles area. He returned to New Hampshire in 1986 to relocate his photography business in Portsmouth. He is best known for location portraiture –telling the subject’s story through the photograph.

In this exhibit, Truslow’s inspiration stemmed from finding Portsmouth's physical icons such as Prescott Park and the enduring businesses that we associate with downtown Portsmouth. Included in this exhibit are: Jack Blalock, Old Ferry Lending; Penny Brewster, Ceres Bakery; Dave Campbell, Ceres Street Wine Merchants; Yalcin Yazgan, Caffé Kilim; Leonard Seagren, Federal Cigar; Bruce Pingree, Press Room; and perhaps one of the most familiar faces, “Officer Friendly”, also known as Kevin Semprini, a former Portsmouth police officer.

Since opening his Portsmouth studio in 1986 Truslow has shot for a variety of local and national clients in the healthcare, financial, education, energy and other markets. Notable clients include PAX World Investments, Harvard University, Wheelabrator Technologies and Mass General Hospital. Bill is also launching a series of on location 'photo adventure' workshops for those wanting to learn more about the art of photography. His work can be seen at www.truslowphoto.com.
