When publisher Paul Sylva asked if SeacoastNH.com wanted to collaborate on a beautiful "coffee table" book of this region, we signed right on. The images here come from a contest sponsored among local semi-professional, pros and amateur photographers. Our job was to supply captions for 150 rich color images of the land and sea we love. The text in the book itself is by J. Dennis Robinson, your humble editor.

The following gallery is just a taste of the winning pictures that fill the new hardcover volume. It is called "Portsmouth & Coastal New Hampshire: A Photographic Portrait." That's a long title, but that's because there are a lot of photos. Fifty artists are represented in the 128-page volume by Twin Light Publishers. Our friends at Pro Portsmouth (the people who bring you Market Square Day and First Night) judged the contest and awarded the prizes. Who won? Well, you'll just have to pick up a copy and find out. At just $25, you might want to pick up a bunch, depending on how many coffee tables, or relatives, you happen to have.--JDR
