Henderson's Point Explosion

After the explosion, curiosity seekers rushed down to the shore of the
Piscataqua. The results of the explosion are visible on the Kittery,
Maine side of the river. The photo is by Caleb Gurney, author of the
locally famous guide "Portsmouth: Historic and Picturesque". 35,000
people witnessed the event, according to reports. Expect for a minor
trolley accident and a man hit on the head with a tin can, no injuries
were incurred by what was then called the largest man-made blast in
human history.
