HMS Bounty photo

Even under tow, we easily outrun the antique HMS Bounty and pass beneath the 75 year old Memorial Bridge ahead of the tall ship. Could we grab a few more pics on land?

By sheer near-sighted luck, we walk across the old bridge just as it is going up to accommodate the arriving Bounty. "Wanna lift?" the bridge operator asks? We've been up this thing recently, but not much longer. Sadly it is being automated by the cheap state of NH and the kindly human bridge operators will be replaced by computers.

Finally, the best shot of the day as the tall ship Bounty passes beneath the bridge spanning Kittery, ME and Portsmouth, NH. Photography just takes a little luck, that's all - and a good automatic shutter.

The Bounty heads for its berth for the next week at the state pier where it will meet bands, crowds, Revolutionary War militia and all the hoopla. Tall ships simply seem happier in Portsmouth. Perhaps we should build one of our own?
