The whole Market Square Day festival takes place within view of the North Church steeple. Here we've climbed into the roof of the Athenaeum to provide this exclusive aerial view which, with a good camera, would have made a great shot on this perfect June day.

Moments before the 10K annual road race, contestants prepare for the starting gun at 9am. About 2,000 runners politely jockey for position.

And they're off! The route winds all around the streets of Portsmouth and ends near the waterfront in scenic Prescott Park.
