Animal Farm Perform in Ring
  • Print

Animal_Farm_Ring2To celebrate their thirtieth anniversary, Generic Theater presents Andrew Periale’s Animal Farm as a benefit for the Rockingham County 4-H Clubs.  The choice of charities seems logical, as the play is set in a barnyard and concerns animals who take charge of their own lives.  Animal Farm runs April 20 - May 6 at The Players’ Ring, 105 Marcy Street, Portsmouth, NH.  (Continued bleow)

Show times are 8pm Fridays and Saturdays, 7pm Sundays April 22nd and 29th, closing with a 2pm matinee Sunday May 6th..   Tickets cost $12 - 15 (seniors, students, and Players’ Ring members receive discounts). Reserve tickets today by calling 603-436-8123.

Founded in 1982, Generic Theater describes itself as an independent, open, cooperative exchange group, whose members are interested in theater both as production and as process.  They seek to inspire, challenge, and involve their audiences.  Another of the company’s traditions is to provide opportunities for beginners.  The ensemble includes Erika Wilson, Brigid Abreu, and Michael Ficara, who have never worked with Generic Theater before, as well as familiar performers Roland Goodbody, Cary Wendell, Susan Turner, Peggi McCarthy and Helen Brock. Playwright Periale also directs the show and acts as puppet-trainer for the cast.

One-ninth of the proceeds from the nine performances of Animal Farm will go to 4-H Club programs.  4-H is a positive youth development program of UNH Cooperative Extension. 4-H (Head, Heart, Hands, and Health) supports a great variety of activities, including local clubs, after-school programs, and local, state and national events. Through participating in 4-H, youth experience a sense of belonging, learn important life skills, have a voice in shaping their future, and make a positive difference in the world.
