Have you ever wondered what life aboard ship might have been like during the Revolutionary War? It wasn’t easy and the clothes were tight fitting! Do you know how Richard Fletcher Dunn lost his leg or why Jones’ first mate, Elijah Hall, hated him? Do you know who William Preston was? He was wrongly arrested for selling alcohol and he was not happy about it!?  Or what about Mary Morrison who ran clear across town in labor so that her baby would be born in the house? How do they feel about being left out of the history books? These and many more stories will delight people of all ages. The characters whose portraits hang on a wall are now standing in the room beside you.

By combining theater and history, this collaboration takes the real history of Portsmouth out of a dusty old book and into an interactive experience.  By engaging people and allowing them to question, poke fun and laugh with the characters, the history of John Paul Jones will no longer be stories just read in a history book, but rather an immediate experience that proves relevant and timely.
