Whaleride00MARK YOUR CALENDAR

In honor of the hot summer and family vacations, The Gallery at 100 Market is featuring a show-within-a-show of whimsical whales, by illustrator Theresa LaBrecque, of Northwood, NH. “A Whale of a Ride,” Lebrecque’s exhibit, includes 18 pieces, 15 lining the third floor walls, with a few on floor two to wet the appetite and direct to the upper level. (Continued below)

“All the art in our exhibits is family appropriate, but some have greater appeal for the younger members. There’s no doubt Theresa’s work does just that,” says Michael Simchik, gallery patron. “What’s not to like about pirates, windmills and mermaids and giraffes riding the backs of whales?”

LaBrecque wrote and illustrated “Tea Time with Mermaids,” a collection of paintings with sing-song poetry chronicling the social life of mermaids, and illustrated “A Whale of a Good Time,” which features the poetry of Lee Nemmers.

“These are truly delightful – no matter what your age,” says Jean Hurlbut, McLane Law Firm’s gallery liaison, a show supporter. “This floor’s hours are more restrictive than the lower floors, but perfect for a daytime stroll through a whale of a wonderland.”

Other artists exhibiting throughout the four floors include: Jason Turgeon, (sight specific installation), J. Toffic, Judith Shah, Tess Feltes, Bill Oakes, Teri Martin, Mark Soderling, Ross Bachelder, Barbara Ingersoll,  Marina Forbes, Els Overkleeft, Steven A. Holt, Karen Jones, Judith Shah, Magi Leland, Gillian Fournier, Elaine Mendzela, and Lisa Grey.

Simchik sponsors the juried and curated Gallery at 100 for the purpose of advancing the individual artist’s business-of-one. There is no fee or percentage taken. Buyers are directed to the artists or representing galleries. Other galleries are encouraged to connect with exhibitors.
