Season of Stars at the Rochester Opera House
2007/2008 Season tickets now on sale
The upcoming season at the Rochester Opera House is being billed as a "Season of Stars" in celebration of some amazing shows, several of which highlight the performances of noted celebrities. This spectacular season is now on sale to the general public, after having been on sale to members for the past two months.
The Rochester Opera House will be 100-years-old on May 30, 2008 and in preparation for a year of celebration, the 2007/2008 season features a stunning blend of famous names, international cultural celebrations and some old-fashioned family entertainment.
This season of stars includes the legendary talents of Broadway and Hollywood singing sensation Shirley Jones on October 27, highlighting some of the greatest songs of her career. Another Hollywood legend, Mickey Rooney, takes the stage on November 17 joined by his wife Jan Rooney in an evening of song, dance, comedy and retrospective film clips of his career. Back by popular demand, The Three Irish Tenors return on December 7 along with their female counterparts, The Three Irish Divas to present Christmas >From Dublin.
Another superstar, this time in the realms of comedy and stress relief,opens the season on October 20. Loretta LaRoche graces the Rochester Opera House stage with her unique blend of humor and great advice. At the extreme other end of the season, on May 31 of 2008, the Rochester Opera House is pleased to welcome back for a second time the phenomenal singing, dance and guitar talents of Charo, as she helps celebrate the opening weekend of the Rochester Opera House Centennial Celebration.
The internationally-famous Bellydance Superstars take the stage on November 9 with a performance highlighting bellydance styles from around the globe. In further celebration of international dance, the Rochester Opera House presents Yu Wei Chinese Dance Collection on February 9 and Bala Music And Dance from India on March 15.
To showcase the talents of local stars, the Rochester Opera House will feature six concerts by the renowned Strafford Wind Symphony, the second annual presentation of The Nutcracker presented by Arts Rochester and two popular annual fundraising events: No Talent Left Behind (a fundraiser for the Rochester Federation of Teachers) and Dancing With The Seacoast Stars (a joint fundraiser with Arts Rochester).
Other notable performances during the 2007/2007 season include The Crucible, The One Man Christmas Carol, The 2nd Annual New Year's Eve Party for Kids, Tim Sample, Susan Poulin starring in "Pardon My French," Macbeth, The Spencer Theatre of Illusion, Unforgettable: A Tribute To Nat King Cole and many more.For a full listing of events or to purchase tickets, visit the official web site.
